About SSL certification
If you store sensitive data, such as customer profiles, on
your site, you can secure your site by obtaining a Secure Sockets Layer
SSL certificates are available to IP-based
domains only; you cannot obtain an SSL certificate for name-based
SSL is a protocol that transmits private documents through
the Internet. It creates a secure connection between a client and a server
over which data can be sent securely. SSL works by using a private key
to encrypt data transferred over the SSL connection.
SSL certificates are available from a Certificate Authority
(CA), such as VeriSign®.
To secure your domain:
Generate an SSL certificate request.
a certificate from a Certificate Authority (CA).
Load the SSL certificate onto your domain.
Restart the Web server.
